History

KissSalis Betriebsgesellschaft mbH, an enterprise of the Kannewischer Holding, assumed the management of the KissSalis Thermal Spa in February2004 when it was opened. The property is owned by Stadtwerke Bad Kissingen GmbH and was co-financed with EU funding. The complex is located in the district of Garitz and was built from 2001 to 2004 in keeping with plans drawn up by the architects Kenéz and Jaeger. It was intended as a replacement for the old exercise-therapy pool at the Luitpold Baths. Since April 2009, there has also been a campervan park immediately next to the Thermal Spa, and in 2010, the SaunaPark was extended to incorporate a large infusion sauna as well as a lounge and quiet area. The KissSalis Bistro, which is located in the foyer, underwent refurbishment in July 2011.

This is how the KissSalis Thermal Spa got its name

When choosing the name for the new KissSalis Thermal Spa, inspiration was provided by a quotation found on a historical porcelain owl, which reads “In Aquis Kissingen salus", and translates into, "Health is in Kissingen´s waters". The syllables derived from the Latin quotation, Kiss (=Kissingen), sal (=salus) and is (=Aquis) give rise to the name KissSalis Thermal Spa.
